Was the 1st one a 98?
Remember that the 98 GTs are 225 hp compared to the 210-215 horses of the 96-97 GTs...
Not much of a difference, but a difference none the less...

My GT ran a 15.3-15.5 bone stock at the track (first time) when I had absolutely NO idea how to launch, so that fits about right with your GTech...

That's the only thing I can think of...
