Did I get beat?

I was at a red light, Be hind me in the other lane I saw a black 87 lx 5.0 pulling up to light, the light turned green while he was still rolling and I started to proceed, the black mustang romped on it (to get by me and show off), I notticed this so I jumped on it too. He got a bit of jump on me but wI was about 3/4 of car length a head of me I shifted once then I shifted again and started to pull away. Then I noticed I was doing about 120km in a 60 zone and I backed off, (it was a bussy street in at about 4:00 in the afternoon) he then flew by me but can he realy say he beat me?
