Mustang's suck

ok, i've had my 99 cobra for 7900 miles now, and today, crusin at about 75 mph, 5th gear...i hear a pop. Next stop light my engine is idling low, knocking some, and doesn't like to move at all. When i pull over i discover a crack in my valve covers, oil all over the place and a car that doesn't like to move anywhere. Needles to say it was toed off. I believe that any car that breakes down before 8000 miles must have serious issues. I don't know, is this a major engine problem or is it going to be ok? at the moment i'm pretty pissed at the ford motor company. I'm just glad to have a warrenty and not have done to many mods yet.
