![]() This is the 2nd time this has happened to me, i don't understand it? I put on my Explorer intake on this weekend and now the oil level just keeps on rising and water is coming out the exhaust? Last time this happened I had a blown head gasket.
I just don't understand why this happened, I used RTV around the water jackets and tighten the intake down good. WTF!

![]() Can someone lead me in the right direction? I don't think its the lower intake but I don't understand how that could cause a blown head gasket?

![]() Did you have the heads surfaced after blowing the first gasket? A blown head gasket often involves a head whos surface is slightly warped. If that isn't corrected, it will continue to blow gaskets.
Take care, -Chris

![]() The engine hasn't been getting hot.
I rebuilt the motor after the first blown head gasket. Decked the block and used different heads. I still don't understand how putting an intake on can cause this problem?

![]() Ive only seen this once, but my friend tightened his intake so much that it pulled the heads up a little and his head gaskets started to leak. Like i said This is very unlikely because you really gotta crank down on the intake to do that !!!!!!!!! I still cant believe that he did that but it actually happend.

![]() I would do a compression check first to rule out a head gasket problem. If it is the manifold, it doesn't matter which side it is, the whole lower will have to be removed. Then you should be able to identify where the problem was. It's possible that the manifold is cracked, too.
Take care, -Chris

isn't a little water supposed to come out of the tailpipes in the exhaust? where in the exhaust is the water coming out?

![]() Water is the chemical result from a perfectly running engine, after passing through the cats. Puddles under your exhaust tips is normal when cold. However, after the engine warms up, the heat in the pipes evaporates it all. If you are still seeing puddles under the exhaust tips after the engine has been running for 30 minutes, there may be a problem.
Pressure test your cooling system just before doing the compression test, with the spark plugs removed. If water is getting into a cylinder, you will see it get spit out of the spark plug hole when you are cranking the engine for the compression test. Take care, -Chris

![]() So you guys are saying it could be my lower intake? I tighten it down to 25 ft. lbs, I guess thats too much?
Well I'm gonna test it today, so we'll see what happens.
