Question New starter

First off, hello.

I just bought a new starter moter this morning (along w/ a starter sylinoid) (sp?). I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to install it.

About a year ago, I put an engine in and when I did it took us, I believe a half hour to put it back in. The original, now I have a new one. In the mean time we had to hold the stupid thing. It got pretty heavy.

There has to be an easier way!

Any tips would be very much appriciated.

Thanks a lot.

Uh, I guess you could put it on a tranny jack if you have one. Otherwise you'll just have to man up and hold it there.

hmmmm, almost bought one, but didn't.

Would a regular jack work? Not one of the big orange jacks, but one of the small ones?

Maybe we know someone who has a tranny jack, doubt it tho...

Sure, a little floor jack would work fine, as long as there's space for it. Just make sure to strap it on with bungees or something. You don't want it falling on you.
