Post 289 with a blower ???

I have a 289 and would like to put the Holly 174 blower on it. I would put Victor jr heads, forged pistons, H-beam rods.... My question is how much power will the stock crank take?

Well, if its not turned (machined) much, and you have it balanced, along with rods balanced and wieghed, I've seen them take 600 HP and last. Thats street and strip driven. Now I dont know how much more past that they can take.

The one that was around 600 HP was in a 66 coupe. The guy that owns a Mustang Restoration shop and his friend built this bad A$$ motor for it back when they were in college. I thought he was Bull Sh!ttin till a few other people I met knew him and all they talked about was the 66 Coupe. They said it ran low 11's in the quarter mile at 119 miles an hour.

Anyway, the guy who owns the shop said they drove that car all over, on the streets, on the track, for two years. Then it took and accidental 9500 RPM blast. It then broke in half, well the crank did.

I ran a stock 2 bolt main block (302), and stock crank for 3 racing seasons. Had them cryogenecally frozen, and they held up well. 600 HP is right on the edge though. Lost the block in a lean out with N2O but the crank is still is great shape. The car launched at 4600 RPM and shifted at 74/7600, crossed the line at 8K. Have now gone to a forged steel piece and the R302 block stroked out to 347.
